Are you ready to get addicted? Bad Habits is one of the hottest blues bands to hit Canada’s East Coast and are a must see act! Combining their high energy with their over-the-top live show full of long sets and crazy antics, the band attracts fans from all walks of life. Bad Habits bring a sound that is truly their own and in true blues fashion, also pay tribute to the greats such as SRV, Buddy Guy and Colin James. With the powerhouse vocals of Amanda Jackson leading the way, the singing guitar solos of Jason Condon, Dale McKie’s gritty blues harmonica and the solid rhythm section of Adam MacGregor and Liam Kearney, it’s no wonder Bad Habits took home New Artist of the Year at the 2013 Music PEI Awards! The band has come to be a staple in the PEI music scene, performing over 70 shows in 2012 alone. Their constant presence and dedicated fan base saw them recognized as the fan-voted Music PEI Bell Aliant Weekend Warriors in 2012 and 2013.
Coming from humble roots, Bad Habits have since evolved into a band that brings amazing original music and an engaging live show to the stage. Nominated for Music PEI’s Jazz & Blues Recording of the Year in 2013, their debut album, Good Thing, was engineered and produced by the incredibly talented, award winning, Jon Matthews of The Sound Mill. This proved to be an excellent pairing and together they took 13 tracks to another level. The album was a rewarding experience and they were fortunate to be joined by special guests Nathan Condon, Todd MacLean, Robyn Verhoeven and Arioso. In addition to the incredible aforementioned talent, they were honoured to include some of their most dedicated fans and supporters to sing back up on one of the tracks. Their fans are of extreme importance to them and they are sure to involve them in many ways including handing out signature Bad Habits tambourines and sharing special moments at live shows to including them in photos and videos through their social media outlets.
This year is gearing up to be a busy year already! The spring has the band set to record a live album in April, competing in CBC’s Searchlight New Artist initiative and performing at three ECMA 2013 showcases, including the coveted RBC Breakout Stage. The summer of 2013 will see Bad Habits headline at two Maritime blues festivals, including Smokin’ Blues Fest 3 in July. Bad Habits is no stranger to the festival and showcase stages, having played at events such as Smokin’ Blues Fest 2, TD PEI Jazz and Blues Festival, Red Island Blues Festival, Festival of Fall Flavours Beef and Blues, and Atlanticade, to name a few. Additionally, they have opened for Juno and Maple Blues award-winning band Monkey Junk, and have played countless gigs and charity events that truly highlight their passion for performing.
