Soul Filter is a rock-pop band from PEI. Formed in 2017, the two founding members; Karen Penton and Mike Penton, have been performing together in various cover bands over the past 14 plus years. They were the founding members of previous popular coverbands Junkmale, and Pretty Tragic, as well as a kickass No Doubt and Alanis Morissette tribute show. In 2012, they performed on the Discovery Stage during PEI Music Week. And for the past 5 years they have been working their chemistry together on stage, performing all their favorite songs as an acoustic duo.

In 2017, their desire to write and perform their own music took over, and they recorded a 10 song demo.
Karen delivers powerful lead vocals, catchy lyrical melodies, and solid acoustic rhythm guitar. Mike, coming from a bass guitar background (Kickstart) lays down some funky-cool bass lines, as well as melodic electric guitar riffs.
With a wide array of musical influences, their sound has been compared to The Cranberries, Sheryl Crow, and Alanis Morrisette.
With a little help from some friends, they are planning to release their debut album in early 2018!
Stay tuned for more from Soul Filter!
