Music PEI Awards
The Music PEI team has put together 26 awards, each designed to celebrate various genres, styles, industry professionals and community leaders.
Awards Submissions

Award submissions can be made using our new Awards Platform but it is advised you read the Guidelines before submitting.
There will be multiple performance opportunities during the 2025 Music PEI Week. Artists/Groups do not have to apply to perform. All nominees are automatically considered for performance opportunities.
Artists are not required to submit physical copies of their CD to the Music PEI office. However, if an artist would like to add their CD to the Music PEI archive, they can mail or deliver a maximum of two (2) physical copies of their CD. Note: these CDs may be used for promotional purposes.
Changes for the 2025 Awards
Please note that there have been a few changes to the awards offered. Last year, Music PEI offered 28 award categories, this year there are 26.
Rooted to the Island Award and Industry Person of the Year are not being offered this year – and will now be activated every 3 years, with the next awards being given out at the 25th anniversary celebrations in 2027.
Submission fees to the following Community awards will now be waived: Leo Cheverie Community Contributor of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. To encourage applications from equity-seeking groups, Music PEI is waiving the application fee for the following groups: women, BIPOC, Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities. As well, 100% of application fees for the 48 hours of the submission period will be waived.
Music PEI has reworked and created a few new categories for the 2025 awards. The Music PEI Board Awards have been retired, these awards will be integrated into the other new award categories which include; Recording: includes “genre” awards and all other awards that require a recording to be submitted, Community: replaces “Board Awards” category and encompasses member and board voted categories, Industry: Includes industry-specific awards that were previously listed in either “general” or “board” award categories. General: Includes all other awards.
Finally, the following changes have been made to how nominees and winners are decided for the categories of Musician of the Year, Educator of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Leo Cheverie Community Contributor of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. Member voting for some categories has been reinstated.
Changes to Award Adjudication
Musician and Educator of the Year: Member vote determines the nominees and the top score is the winner.
Entertainer and Music Video of the Year: Member vote determines the nominees, public vote determines the winner.
Lifetime Achievement and Leo Cheverie Community Contributor of the Year: Music PEI Board votes determine the winners. There shall be no nominees announced.
