Music PEI to announce 2012 Awards Nominations

December 2, 2011 | The nominees for the 2012 Music PEI Awards will be announced at the Music PEI Awards Nomination Party presented by The Guardian, Friday December 9th at The Guild at 8:00pm. The evening will include a rundown of the nominees in all award categories including music industry awards, as well as performances from Charlottetown group, The Love Junkies and munchies.

Tickets are available by calling the Guild at 620-3333 and are complimentary for Music PEI members.

Awards will be handed out at various showcases and events throughout Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week 2012 culminating with the awards gala at the Confederation Centre of the Arts on January 21st.

Music PEI is also very excited to announce that the Eastern Graphic will present the S.A.C. Songwriters Showcase at the King's Playhouse in Georgetown on January 19th during Music PEI Week. The concert will feature a special guest provided by the Songwriters Association of Canada as well as the 2012 Music PEI nominees for the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year award. A full list of performers will be announced at a later date.

“Music PEI Week is an annual celebration of Island music from East to West, with 26 awards given to those who have made their mark on the music industry in the past year,” says Music PEI Executive Director Rob Oakie. “In addition to the awards gala, Music PEI Week also includes a Songwriters Concert, Music Mosaic, Friday Night Live, and other showcases and workshops.”

Music PEI programs and activities are made possible through the ongoing support of the provincial departments of Tourism and Culture and Innovation and Advanced Learning as well as ACOA, Canadian Heritage, the City of Charlottetown and FACTOR.
