Submissions Open for Music PEI Awards, Showcases and Canadian Song Challenge

November 10, 2016 | Music PEI has officially opened submissions for the 16th annual edition of the Music PEI Awards. Founded in 2001 by the Prince Edward Island Music Awards Association, the Music PEI Awards offer an opportunity to shine a light on and celebrate the diversity and excellence in our music community.

The awards include a wide variety of recording and industry awards and number over thirty. Submissions will be accepted until December the 15, 2016 at 5:00pm AST.

The Music PEI Board of Directors decides an additional five awards which include Educator of the Year, Industry Person of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Rooted to the Island and Community Contributor of the Year. The board is open to and encourages suggestions by the community for any of these awards and is glad to accept recommendations at music@musicpei.com.

New this year is the Community Contributor of the Year. This award is designed to celebrate those artists who have contributed significantly to their communities through their music. Musicians are often called upon to perform at charities, fundraisers, benefits and other community events and PEI musicians are some of the best at it. They help raise much-needed money for causes and bring great joy to their audiences.

The Music PEI Awards will be handed out Sunday afternoon, May 14th during the second annual Music PEI Awards Party which takes place during the May Run Music Festival. Dates for May Run Music Festival are May 10 to the 14, 2017. More details including lineup and ticket sales to come soon.

Running concurrently with the festival is the Canadian Song Conference. In its third year, the CSC has quickly garnered an international reputation and brings music industry professionals together from around the globe to examine the art and commerce of songs and music. More details to come.

The deadline for Awards Submission is December 15, 2016 at 5:00pm AST. Full details and awards submission forms can be found HERE.
