Music PEI Awards Nominees Announced

During the week of January 14th to January 17th, Music PEI will host the 8th Annual 2009 Ocean 100/K-Rock 105.5 Music PEI Awards Show Gala. This year will mark the most impressive Music Week to date, with four days of workshops and showcases, culminating with the Awards Gala on January 17th at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Leading the pack of this year’s nominees are Meaghan Blanchard, Nudie & The Turks, Grass Mountain Hobos and Vishten with five nominations each. Following closely with four nominations are Smothered in Hugs, Boxer the Horse and Kris Taylor while John Connolly, Colette Cheverie, Tanya Davis, Lazy Jacks, Kendra MacGillivray, and Syracuse Me picked up three nominations apiece. On-line voting polls will open on December 22nd 2008 and will close on January 9th 2009 at midnight. There are a total of 17 categories in which members of Music PEI can cast their vote and two categories open to the public ? Entertainer of the Year and Weekend Warrior- all voting will take place on-line at www.musicpei.com.

Returning this year to host the Ocean100/K-Rock 105.5 Music PEI Music Awards Gala is the one and only Kerri Wynne MacLeod, local musician and co-host of the Morning show on Ocean 100. This year the Awards Gala will emphasize musical performances by the nominees and very special guests. Tickets are available at the Confederation Centre Box Office for $20.00.
