Employment Opportunities at Music PEI
Music PEI Week is the annual celebration of the Island music industry which includes conference workshops, showcases, concerts, art show and the Music PEI Awards Gala Show. The 2012 conference will take place between January 13 to 21.
Music PEI is currently looking to fill three positions.
Event Coordinator (EC)
This position is the centre of organising and staging Music PEI Week and is responsible for the administrative and coordination aspect of the event which now includes 4 concerts, multiple showcases, receptions and industry workshops.
The EC will coordinate the Awards submission process which begins in August and spearhead marketing and communication campaigns as well as coordinating volunteers leading up to the event.
The EC will manage a $200,000+ budget set by the Board of Directors and the Executive Director.
The EC will also assist in compiling all related information for completing funding reports to various partners post event. This is a critical area that has been neglected in the past resulting in delayed final reports and affecting cash-flow for the organisation.
Contract runs from August 15, 2011 – February 10, 2012.
Music PEI Week Producer
The Producer will report to the Executive Producer and assist in the artistic creation of the four concerts (including the Gala Awards Show) to be staged during Music PEI Week, working also with the Production Committee to develop the artistic vision as well as selecting performing artists, developing a script and the overall visual presentation of the show.
Contract runs from October 3, 2011 – February 10, 2012.
Sponsor & Artist Care Coordinator (SACC)
This position is responsible for being the contact centre for all communications between Music PEI and both the event sponsors and the artists.
The SACC will work closely with the Sponsorship Committee and Sponsor Sales Person to gather all sponsorship contracts, agreements and any commitments made with sponsors by the Music PEI Sponsor Sales Person and will insure the delivery of those commitments to the sponsor.
The SACC will collect all required information from nominated artists regarding:
Comp tickets
Bios for programs
Sound clips
Permission for video use
Backline requirements & stage plots for performances
The SACC will work with the Event Coordinator to organize and deliver the award submission process:
Posting updated award forms on the website
Work with webmaster to develop online submission process
Promoting the award submission process online, social media, radio and in print media
Work with graphic designer to develop ads
Outreach to artists to submit
Assemble submissions
Recruiting jurors and assigning jury categories
Contract runs from October 3, 2011 – February 10, 2012.
These positions are funded through Skills PEI and the Work Experience PEI program. As such, all applicants must be EI eligible and currently unemployed. Skills PEI criteria is:
be unemployed and legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or permanent resident); and
have a current claim for Employment Insurance benefits; or have a previous EI claim whose benefit period ended in the preceding 36 months; or
have a previous benefit period that began in the preceding 60 months, during which the individual was paid maternity or parental benefits, after which they left the labour market to care for a newborn or newly adopted child and are now seeking to re-renter the labour market.
