Music PEI Announces Major Sponsorship Partnership with Metro Credit Union.
Partnerships also signed with Quality Inn and Suites, Hunter’s Alehouse and Holland College School of Performing Arts
Music PEI is thrilled to announce it has signed a major new sponsorship partnership with platinum title sponsor Metro Credit Union for Music PEI Week 2012. The 2012 event which takes place January 13-21 will be known as Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week 2012.
Gold level sponsor Quality Inn and Suites Downtown Charlottetown have agreed to become the host hotel and partner for Showcase PEI 2011 which takes place September 26th and 27th as Music PEI hosts up to 40 buyers from across Canada, the UK and the US. Showcase PEI has created close to $400,000 in work for Island artists since 2008 including festival bookings, all types of performances as well as agent and management deals.
Executive Director Rob Oakie said “Having Metro Credit Union make such a strong commitment to the Island music industry is unprecedented in the Music PEI Awards 10 year history. This will allow us to continue to develop Music PEI Week as it grows into the largest annual celebration of Island music.” Oakie went on to say “Showcase PEI is the single most important business development event for PEI’s music industry and with the support of Quality Inn and Suites Downtown Charlottetown we are able to insure our delegates have a first class experience. We would also like to acknowledge the continued support from ACOA, Innovation PEI and FACTOR for this very important event.”
Enthusiasm surrounding the 2012 event is growing throughout the business community as Hunter’s Alehouse and the Holland College School of Performing Arts have also signed on as silver level sponsors.

Music PEI Week 2012 takes place January 13-21. The event is an annual celebration of Island music from East to West, with up to 29 industry awards given to those who have made their mark on the music industry in the past year. In addition to the awards gala, Music PEI Week also includes a Songwriters Concert, Music Mosaic, Friday Night Live, and other showcases and workshops.
Music PEI, founded in 2001 as the Prince Edward Island Music Awards Association, is a non-profit member services organization devoted to advancing careers of Island musicians. Music PEI is actively seeking ways to promote, foster and develop artists and the music industry on PEI. The Association acts as an advocate for the Island music industry and a representative at the national table.
