Colin MacDonald of The Trews Announced as Special Guest For S.A.C. Songwriter Concert presented by AIRS
As part of Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week 2013, the S.A.C. Songwriters Concert presented by AIRS with media sponsor The Eastern Graphic takes place January 31st at the beautiful King’s Playhouse in Georgetown.
The Songwriters Concert is one of the most anticipated events during Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week which features the nominees of the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Award, along with last year’s winner Catherine MacLellan.
MacDonald hosts the night as artists take turns performing their songs and sharing their stories. The nominees for SOCAN Songwriter of the Year are Dennis Ellsworth, Nathan Gill (North Lakes), Nudie, John MacPhee (Paper Lions) and Tim Chaisson.
Music PEI has put together an amazing list of concerts and performances that will take place during Metro Credit Union Music Week. Tickets for all performances go on sale today. Here is the schedule of events:
Friday, Jan. 25 – Opening Reception & Art for Music at Back Alley Music – 5:30 p.m.
Artwork by Visual Artist of the Year nominees will be displayed all week at Back Alley Music in Charlottetown. Join us at the Opening Reception on Friday, Jan. 25 when the award for Visual Artist of the Year will be handed out. Admission is free.
Friday, Jan. 25 – Nudie’s House of Rock in Partnership with CBC at The Mack, Charlottetown – 8 p.m.
A new Music PEI Week signature event that features a mixture of both established and emerging artists. Two bands on stage, going song for song. Nudie hosts the show and interviews the performers. Featuring Coyote, The Meds, Paper Lions, and Two Hours Traffic. It’s going to be a fantastic event. Music PEI will be filming and CBC will be recording to be aired later.
Tickets are now on sale through the Confederation Centre of the Arts’ box office or online. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 26 – Soupy Saturdays at Back Alley Music, 1-3 p.m.
This great fundraising event happens once a month where proceeds from soup sales go to a charity. Musicians donate their time and provide entertainment in the back room. Proceeds from this particular Saturday will go to the Unison Benevolent Fund. Featuring Chas Guay, Dennis Ellsworth, and John MacPhee. Soup provided by Chef Robert Pendergast. This is a free event.
Wednesday, Jan. 30th – Country Jubilee with Media Sponsor CFCY at Harbourfront Theatre, Summerside – 8 p.m.
A new Music PEI Week Signature Event featuring the Island’s top country artists, along with the presentation of eight major Music PEI Awards. CFCY personality Kris MacDonald will host this event that will showcase the growing Island Americana/country scene. With performances from Meaghan Blanchard, Eddie Quinn & Lester MacPherson, Johnny Oliver and Nudie, the show is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Friday, Feb. 1 – Friday Night Live presented by Ocean 100 at various locations
This night will see 25 acts performing across the Island, giving local musicians a chance to showcase their talents. It will be a night filled with entertainment from all genres of music, with a little something for everyone. A full list of venues and performers will be announced soon. Tickets will be for sale at each venue that night.
Saturday, Feb. 2 – 12th Annual Music PEI Awards Gala presented by Ticketpro, Homburg Theatre, Charlottetown – 8 p.m.
Celebrating the best of the Island’s music scene, the gala will be hosted by Canadian radio personality Grant Lawrence.
The gala will feature 12 award presentations and 13 musical performances which will make for an incredible night that showcases the talented musicians of Prince Edward Island.
