Submissions Open for “Song Alliance”
Song Alliance is a new Music PEI initiative and part of the new annual Canadian Song Conference (CSC) taking place May 11–14, 2015.
The CSC will bring leading music industry professionals from across North America together to examine and discuss the art and the commerce of songwriting. Song Alliance is a project that will put one artist from each of the 5 provinces of Ontario, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba together with 5 artists from PEI. The 5 pairs will collaborate together for 2 days to co-write and record demos of one song each day.
On the third day the 5 pairs will pitch their songs to a super panel of 20 of the top music supervisors and publishers from Canada and the US. Participating artists will also have an opportunity to pitch their own catalogue of songs.
In addition participating artists will also be offered performance opportunities at the new Music PEI festival, the Credit Union May Run Music Festival that runs from May 14–17. These performance opportunities will include the closing mega concert with a major Canadian headlining artist.
Song Alliance is open to Music PEI members who are Exporting and Export Ready artists (solo, duos, bands) from all genres of music. You must meet the eligibility criteria and be a resident of PEI. Please carefully review the criteria for full eligibility.
A jury of industry professionals will make final selections. The Music Industry Association from each province in collaboration with Music PEI will select the 5 artists from outside PEI.
