Showcase PEI is Music PEI’s annual buyers conference and has been running since 2008. Since then over 200 delegates have attended the event and helped create millions of dollars in work for PEI artists.

The 8th edition of Showcase PEI will take place September 21 – 24 and will include 21 showcase performances by some of PEI’s top artists of various genres.

PEI artists have been gaining increasing accolades and accomplishments the past few years that include playing some of the largest and most prestigious festivals and events around the world. Showcase PEI presents an interesting and powerful mix of roots and rock artists from Juno winning singer songwriter Catherine MacLellan to accomplished indie pop band Paper Lions. Showcase PEI is focused on developing Live Performance Opportunities. Eligible delegates include Festival, Venue and Event Programmers/Artistic Directors, Promoters and Agents. Target markets are United States, UK, Europe and Canada. Selected and accredited delegates will be provided with financial assistance to attend the conference including meals and hotels.

Showcase PEI features 5 showcase concerts over 3 days at an interesting variety of venues on Prince Edward Island with only one performance at a time eliminating the need to race from one venue to another. Shows are invitation only creating an intimate atmosphere. A detailed schedule of events can be found HERE. There are no workshops or panels, only 20-minute showcase performances.

The festival had the right amount of acts-delegates and industry people that you could have enough time to have some one on one personal time with everyone who was involved. I came away with 7-10 acts that I could easily book in Toronto. They were all acts I knew nothing about but discovered via the festival. I am also making some of my industry contacts in Toronto aware of all the great music that I saw last week. Will be doing my best to help spread the word about the conference and all the great new talent that is coming out of PEI.
