Showcase PEI came to a close Thursday September 24 for the 8th time. It was a terrific year with another great batch of delegates from acorss Canada, the US, the UK and Australia! In all 32 industry professionals descended on Charlottetown representing festivals, venues, agencies, management companies and more to take in 21 of PEI’s finest over the course of 2 days of performances in a variety of venues. Each year the delegates are asked to vote for their favourite artist and this year we are very happy to announce the winner of the Long & McQuade Showcase PEI 2015 Artist of the Year is – The East Pointers. Congratulations guys! You win a $250 gift certificate at Long & McQuade and a free one year Music PEI membership.

This year Showcase PEI included shows at Marc’s Lounge, The Mack, The Trailside Cafe, The Yacht Club and Fishbones. There were so many amazing performances it would have been tough to pick a favourite.

As happens every year, the artists had a chance to network with the delegates and meet in pre-arranged one on one business meetings. Since 2008 Showcase PEI has helped to create close to $2,000,000 in work for PEI artists and this is looking like another great year. Feedback so far from the delegates has been nothing short of outstanding. No one can quite figure out how there can be so much talent in such a small place!

As part of a new strategy, Music PEI is using our two major conferences each year for different and specific focuses. Showcase PEI is targeting live performance opportunities while the Canadian Song Conference in May will be targeting alternate revenue streams like licensing, song placements, publishing by focusing on the art and commerce of songs, songwriting and recording.
