KINLEY wins Music PEI Award for SOCAN Songwriter of the Year

Music PEI kicked off the first of the ticketed shows for May Run Music Festival on Thursday night in Georgetown at Songwriter of the Year Concert at King’s Playhouse. The first Music PEI Award of the week was handed out at the King’s Playhouse during a night that also featured breathtaking performances from songwriter of the year nominees Nick Doneff, John MacPhee (Paper Lions), Dylan Menzie, Andrew Waite, Caleb Gallant (Ten Strings and a Goat Skin) and host Lennie Gallant.

“We are very pleased with the turnout in Georgetown for this terrific concert” says Music PEI Executive Director Rob Oakie. “May Run Music Festival which has evolved from the much loved Music PEI Week has grown as a whole and its great to see the community getting behind this event.”

Songwriter KINLEY, who released her debut solo recording Letters Never Sent in October 2016, came away from the night with the first award of the year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year for her powerful song “Microphone”.

A total of thirty Music PEI awards will be handed out during May Run Music Festival with the majority being awarded Sunday afternoon at the Music PEI Awards Party.
