Chris Kirby- If you’re into east coast music, chances are you’ve heard a Chris Kirby song or production lately. The Norris Arm, NL native has songs on recent records by Matt Andersen, The Once, Tim Chaisson, The East Pointers, and much more. His song work in 2016 earned Kirby the inaugural MusicNL Ron Hynes Songwriter of the Year award.
In 2017, “We Are Love” (written with and performed by The Once) was nominated for International Folk Alliance Song of the Year. Kirby’s co-write with Matt Andersen, “Honest Man”, was ranked #52 on the CBC Radio 2 top 100 songs of 2016. The handful of songs written with Matt Andersen, The Once and The East Pointers have earned Chris over one million streams on Spotify.
An in-demand producer in Atlantic Canada, Chris has produced award-winning works by Charlie A’Court, Keith Mullins, Kim Wempe, Brianna Gosse, Everglow and more. He has also self-produced two award-winning albums of his own. Kirby travels far and wide to make music: Nashville, Los Angeles, Netherlands, and even to Cuba, where he produced parts of Keith Mullins’ “Island Sol” album at the famed EGREM studios.
Colin Buchanan- As a member of PEI’s Paper Lions, Colin Buchanan has been creating music professionally since the age of 18. Relentlessly touring the continent with his childhood friends and bandmates has shaped who he is today and has given him a world-class education in all things music.
Falling in love with the studio early in his career, there was no doubt it was where he would find his home years later. A multi-instrumentalist, he enters every session with a deep understanding of songwriting and pop arrangement. Having worked alongside such industry heavyweights as Howard Reddekop (Tegan and Sarah, New Pornographers), Dan Weston (Shad, Attack In Black) and Andrew Maurey (The Kooks, RAC) he has learned much in his short time behind the desk. A recent trip to France to study at Studio La Fabrique with Gregg Wells (Adele, Keith Urban, One Republic) has further inspired the young producer to keep pushing himself to create better music.
Besides working with bands and solo artists, the past year has seen a foray into TV and film, with a composing credit on a Feature Film (Kooperman) and Producer/Engineer/Arranger credit for song placed on a national Telus campaign. Recent clients include: Coyote, Paper Lions, SORREY, Telus Canada, KINLEY (Hey Rosetta!), Adyn Townes.
