MUSIC PEI and ECMA 2019 partnership
Music PEI and ECMA are excited to announce a new partnership between ECMA 2019 and Music PEI’s Canadian Song Conference. These two events will partner this year to present a songwriting stream during the ECMA Conference taking place in Charlottetown, PEI from May 1-5, 2019.
This joint initiative will leverage the strength of the Music PEI Canadian Song Conference and ECMA’s Industry Conference to bring together some of the leading international and domestic music industry professionals to examine and discuss the art and the commerce of songwriting in workshops, listening sessions and networking opportunities, with a focus on creating multiple revenue streams.
An integral part of this songwriting stream at ECMA presented by Music PEI will be the 5th annual Music PEI Canadian Songwriter Challenge in partnership with ECMA 2019, funded in part through Bell Media. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for East Coast songwriters to come together to collaborate with other artists from across Canada.
Selected songwriters will collaborate together for two-days to co-write and record two demos in a recording studio in PEI. Artists will have the opportunity to pitch their songs to a panel of delegates, including music supervisors, publishers, labels, and other industry professionals from Canada and abroad. Participating artists will also have an opportunity to pitch their own catalogue of songs.
Some of the past participants in the Music PEI Canadian Songwriter Challenge include Meaghan Blanchard, Rachel Beck, Dennis Ellsworth, Amanda Jackson Trio, Danny Drouin, Ashley Condon, Donovan Woods, Dan Mangan, Gabrielle Papillon, Adyn Townes, Reeny Smith, The Small Glories and many more. This opportunity is open for all Music PEI, ECMA, Music NL, Music Nova Scotia and Music NB members. Artists interested in applying for the Canadian Songwriter Challenge go to ecma.com or musicpei.com for full details and eligibility criteria.
