2021 Music PEI Award Nomination Announcement
As devastating a year as 2020 has been on the music industry, there is still cause for celebration. Artists have continued to make beautiful music and Music PEI is proud to announce the nominees for the 2021 Music PEI Awards.
Catherine MacLellan leads the way with 8 nominations for her latest album ‘Coyote’. She received nominations in Credit Union Album of the Year, Album Art of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, Solo Recording of the Year, FACTOR Song of the Year, FilmPEI Video of the Year, and Contemporary Roots/Country Recording of the Year.
Rachel Beck is close behind with 7 nominations and has garnered nominations in some of the top categories including Credit Union Album of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, and Solo Recording of the Year. Dylan Menzie, KINLEY and Sarah Hangen are sitting with 6 nominations, while 5 nominations belong to Brielle Ansems and her album ‘This New Hurricane’.
Also being handed out during Credit Union Music PEI Week will be an additional 6 Board Awards as selected by the Music PEI Board of Directors. Those awards include Educator of the Year, Industry Person of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Rooted to the Island, Live Music Production Professional of the year, and Community Contributor of the Year.
Membership voting for the 5 genre awards will open Monday December 21st and will close January 5th 2021. The Entertainer of the Year is voted on by the public and will be announced December 21st. All other awards are determined by juries of industry professionals.
