Submissions Open For The 2024 Music PEI Awards
Music PEI, the music industry association for Prince Edward Island, is happy to announce the opening of submissions for the 2024 Music PEI Awards.
Music PEI Week is the annual celebration of the Island music industry. The five-day festival recognizes the remarkable achievements of our local artists and professionals with shows featuring many of the Music PEI Award nominees and special guests. This year’s event will be held from March 6th to March 10th, 2024 and the winners will be announced at the Awards Party on Sunday, March 10th.
CHANGES FOR THE 2024 AWARDS:
Please note that there have been a few changes to the awards offered. Last year Music PEI presented 26 award categories but in 2024, they have expanded to 28. These changes include the reconfiguration of existing categories and the introduction of some fresh and exciting additions.
The changes Music PEI has made this year are:
– Roots Recording of the Year has been thoughtfully restructured into two distinct categories: Contemporary Roots Recording of the Year and Traditional Roots Recording of the Year. For detailed descriptions, please refer to the Music PEI Awards Guidelines.
– The Francophone Artist of the Year Award has been reimagined as the Prix de L’Acadie. This revised category now encompasses achievements within the French language music industry, regardless of the genre. The goal is to broaden eligibility, ensuring vibrant participation in this category year after year.
– A brand-new category, Achievement in World Music, has been introduced for 2024. This category will recognize outstanding accomplishments in the field of world music, whether achieved by an individual, group, or organization, within PEI or at a global level.
– In 2023, Music PEI embraced a significant change that allows artists to submit their work to up to two genre-specific categories for each recording, a policy that remains in full effect. Furthermore, all general and genre awards will continue to be evaluated by esteemed industry professionals. To apply as a juror, please visit our website.
