ABOUT MUSIC PEI
Founded in 2001 as the Prince Edward Island Music Awards Association, the organisation was rebranded as Music PEI and became a full-time music industry association in 2008. Since the time Music PEI has administered a provincially funded grant program distributing over 2 million dollars, has created three signature industry events, created numerous business and professional development programs and participated in many domestic and international music industry conferences and events presenting Prince Edward Island artists.

Music PEI is excited to hire the following three positions with Support from Skills PEI:

TEAM LEADER (1 POSITION) –

Compensation
: $19/hr for 37.5 hrs/week
Duration: July 2nd, 2024 – June 13th, 2025 (50 Weeks)
Location: Music PEI Office (115 Richmond Street, Charlottetown)
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday to Friday
Title: Team Leader

ABOUT THE POSITION
Music PEI is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Team Leader. In this role, you will manage and work closely with the event staff hired through the  Skills PEI “Work Experience PEI Program”. The successful candidate must possess demonstrated leadership skills, have experience in event coordination, and a strong connection or previous work in the music industry. The Team Leader will be responsible for organizing all aspects of Showcase PEI, Music PEI Week, and the Canadian Song Conference with support from the Music PEI team. This is an “in-office” position.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the Skills Work Experience PEI staff.
  • Act as a positive role model, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Event Coordination:
  • Take a lead role in the planning and execution of Showcase PEI, Music PEI Week, and the Canadian Song Conference.
  • Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, artist booking, scheduling, and equipment setup.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and successful events.
  • Oversee event budgets, monitor expenses, and manage resources effectively.
  • Team Management:
  • Manage a team of 4 individuals, ensuring their tasks and responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Delegate tasks and projects appropriately, considering individual strengths and development opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, encouraging creativity and innovation.
  • Organization and Time Management:
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results under pressure.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems, processes, and documentation to enhance team efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in a team or project management role.
  • Strong understanding of the music industry, event management and/or previous work experience in a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required during event periods.

SHOWCASE PEI (2 POSITIONS) –
WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM POSITION CONTRACTS 


Compensation: $650/week for 37.5 hrs/week
Duration: July 2nd, 2024 – December 13th, 2024 (24 Weeks)
Location: Music PEI Office (115 Richmond Street, Charlottetown)
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday to Friday
Title: Assistant Event Coordinator – Showcase PEI

ABOUT THE POSITION
The successful applicant will support Music PEI staff with planning the 2024 Showcase PEI. Some of the tasks are event planning logistics, delegate coordination, booking travel/ accommodations, collecting information from artists, etc.

These positions will also assist with additional administrative duties in the Music PEI office as required and will be helping organize Music PEI Week 2025 (launch submissions, marketing, review guidelines, etc.)

An ideal candidate will have a connection to the music industry, be proficient in digital communication, sending and receiving emails, have strong organizational skills, and be familiar with Google Workspace. All applicants will be welcome but a preference will be given to (but not limited to) someone with a background in music or the music business and who has an interest in pursuing a career in music. This is an in-office position.

ABOUT SHOWCASE PEI
Since 2008, Music PEI has delivered an in-person showcase conference, bringing industry professionals from around the world to Prince Edward Island. Showcase PEI has since developed an international reputation in the industry as a must-attend event.  Over 500 delegates have been recruited since 2008 to see PEI’s top artists showcase each year. A music industry showcase is akin to having a trade stand at an industry trade show. The artists have an opportunity to present their live music to the delegates. The  conference has had tremendous success in creating new business opportunities primarily focused on live performance offers that include some of the leading festivals and music venues across Canada and around the world and has created more than $4,000,000 in work for PEI artists.

ELIGIBILITY
This project is funded by Skills PEI and the Work Experience PEI Program. In order to be eligible, applicants must be:

  • A Canadian resident
  • Currently unemployed
  • Currently receiving EI, or EI eligible or had an open EI claim in the previous 36 months
