Artist Exchange Program
Since 2012, the Artist Exchange Program (AEP) has featured renowned PEI artists such as Catherine MacLellan, Meaghan Blanchard, Tim Chaisson, Dennis Ellsworth, Ashley Condon, and Nick Doneff, collaborating with partners in England, Wales, and Denmark. In 2024, Music PEI will be represented by Lawrence Maxwell in England and Noah Malcolm in Sweden.

Music PEI’s artist exchange program returns this year during Showcase PEI 2024 – and we are thrilled to partner the English Folk Expo‘s, Robbie Cavanagh with PEI’s Lawrence Maxwell!
Music PEI x English Folk Expo
Since releasing his 3rd record Tough Love, Award winning UK songwriter Robbie Cavanagh has been touring prolifically, as a headlining artist and in support of The Wood Brothers. The album saw Robbie showcase at Folk Alliance and Celtic Connections as well many festival appearances. Robbie returns to Folk Alliance in Montreal 2025.
Lawrence Maxwell cut his teeth on beer caps, rough waters, and country music. His latest album, Ballad of Miles was nominated for seven Music PEI Awards in 2023, and in 2024, he received the award for Music PEI’s ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ His songs have received airplay on: Sirius XM’s ‘Top of the Country,’ Country Hits Radio UK and CBC ‘Q’. With its neo-traditional production, and comparisons to both John Prine and Merle Haggard, Roots Music Canada has dubbed the record “the first great Canadian alt-country album of 2022.” His music video for “Back to Cape Breton” was a finalist in the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards and his song “Better You” was selected in the Top 100 for CBC/Toyota Searchlight in 2022. As an ECMA award nominee and two-time Music P.E.I. award winner, this Prince Edward Island singer-songwriter will tell it to you like it’s folk, and sing it to you like it’s country.
The Artist Exchange Program will include 3 days of collaborating, co-writing and recording between each pair and a showcase during the Showcase PEI conference . These respected artists are considered innovators and at the top of their respective genres.
Lawrence will travel to England in October 2024 to showcase at the English Folk Expo!
