Anya Smith
Anya is a musician, writer, artist, and freelance model from Prince Edward Island. As a recent graduate of the Music Performance Program at Holland College, she has spent the past two years refining her musical abilities at school and performing at local venues. Inspired by the wispy ocean waves brushing against the rusty cinnamon shores of Prince Edward Island, Anya writes from the heart and greets the microphone with lush vocals and chiming acoustic guitar. Her music is a mixture of Indie Folk and Jazz and can be compared to the likes of Nora Jones and Feist. In 2013 she released her first EP “The Sparrow”, a five-song EP of original music. She has since released her 2016 single “I’m Staying Up” that reached the top ten regionals of the 2017 CBC Searchlight competition. With two years of music education and over 7 years of musical experience in her pocket, Anya has recently begun a trip across Ontario to revisit her roots, build new contacts and record her latest album entitled “Like the Wind”. She plans to return to the Island in the early spring for her album release and to take part in the spring and fall music showcases in and around Atlantic Canada.
