Soul Filter is an Indie Alt Rock-Pop band from Prince Edward Island, Canada featuring Karen and Mike Penton. The two have been performing together in popular cover bands over the past 15 years, covering a wide range of music, from Led Zepplin, to Alanis Morissette and everything in between.

In July 2018, Soul Filter released their debut single & video "Armor" and in August released a follow up single and video for "Like Water", which have been featured on CBC East Coast Music Hour and The East Coast Countdown respectively.

On December 14th, 2018, the band released their debut album "A Minor Conspiracy". Produced by Danny MacNevin and Soul Filter, recorded at BigDogz Recording Studio and Penton Productions, A Minor Conspiracy infuses pop, blues and folk into a rock roots sound. Acoustic rhythm is the backbone for most of these songs; mixing in catchy, melodic electric guitar riffs and funky smooth bass lines. Dynamic vocals weave in between soft falsettos and full on power vocals. Their style is influenced by a mix of artists such as Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, The Cranberries, Holly McNarland and Sass Jordan; baring a unique yet reminiscent feel of the 90ís female rock-pop era.

The 10 song album is an empowering collection of songs about love, loss, heartbreak, and just navigating through this crazy beautiful life. Itís about picking up the pieces of the past and living whole in the present. From the sweet, summery pop sounds of Like Water; the hauntingly soul-baring Armor; to the revengefully-angst ridden rock anthem On My Own, this album is a satisfyingly tasty mix of sweet and salty.

"Soul Filter have definitely showcased their years of experience with these tracks. The result is an effortless classic that can easily find a spot in anyoneís library, nestled comfortably between the rock icons from which they draw their inspiration." ~ Maggie McLean, The East
