Based out of Summerside PEI, this husband and wife duo have been staple performers in their local bar scene, performing in pop-rock cover bands for over 16 years. An increasing desire to write and a gnawing curiosity to see what kind of music they would create helped push members Karen & Mike Penton to form Soul Filter in 2017. Baring a unique yet reminiscent vibe to the 90’s soft rock female era, the island duo get their musical inspiration from artists like The Cranberries, Alanis Morissette & Sheryl Crow; with heartfelt, lyrically melodical verses and a punch of crunchy electric guitar to rock out to.

Most recently the band announced their upcoming performance at PEI's annual Rock The Boat music festival this summer opening for Big Wreck, The Road Hammers, Honeymoon Suite & Haywire. In February, they were voted into the Top 100 in CBC's Searchlight 2019 with their song Like Water and have been featured on CBC's Mainstreet with Matt Rainnie, Q93's "Keep It Local", CBC Music Hour with Bill Roach, The East Coast Countdown, and CIOE FM's "Fresh From the East".

December 14th, 2018 saw the release of their debut album, A Minor Conspiracy; a 10 song journey through, love, life, loss and discovery. Infusing pop, blues and folk into their rock roots sound, acoustic rhythm serves as the backbone to melodically sweet electric guitar riffs and punchy choruses. Dynamically weaving between soft falsetto and full on power vocals, Karen delivers emotional, soul baring catchy lyrical melodies.

The album is now available on all streaming and downloading platforms.

"Soul Filter have definitely showcased their years of experience with these tracks. The result is an effortless classic that can easily find a spot in anyone’s library, nestled comfortably between the rock icons from which they draw their inspiration." ~ Maggie McLean, The East
