Contraband formed out of the embers of East Coast rock and roll commodities Flush, Chamberlaine, Death Valley Driver, and The Stogies. After assembling in Charlottetown in the summer of 2016 with the intentions of being a half-serious coverband, they quickly realized there was something special happening. It’s a rare condition to find five people of like mind but different musical interests who can blend their creative talents together in a package that is raw, relentless, and somewhat familiar.

Taking influences from their musical heroes such as Stone Temple Pilots, Guns ‘N Roses, Led Zeppelin, Clutch, and more their sound has molded into something that is best described as “sludge-rock.” Combining soaring, gut-grinding vocals, groove-driven rhythms, and ripping lead guitars, these five guys from Prince Edward Island are anything but out of touch.

Lead by the poetic prowess of Everett James Burt on vocals; Elliott Carter’s fine-tuned four-string dominance; Brett Oliver’s cerebral licks; Ray Blaquiere’s mad scientist riffs, and Dave Lidstone’s pocket thunder on drums, Contraband is foaming at the mouth and ready to tear into the Maritime music scene.
