Susan Rodgers
My film career started with a wardrobe continuity gig on Emily of New Moon; soon a box of wartime letters discovered in an attic launched my first film, the period drama Bobby’s Peace. A year at Vancouver Film School led to a training ground of client documentary film projects, a web series, a period short film, a short comedy, and a few music videos, including a video for a song from my film Still The Water - Blood and Salt Water - with Lennie Gallant.

I dove into writing novels, and was inspired by being named a Finalist in the Atlantic Writing Awards (unpublished manuscripts) for my first novel, A Certain Kind of Freedom. Fifteen Drifters Series books were next. Drifters is the name of a fictional TV series where the characters first meet. I'm currently writing the fourth book in my next series, The Dallas White Series.

My feature screenplay, Still The Water, was produced in the spring of 2020 with me at the helm as producer and director. I am in post-production on an NFB film, Then Sings My Soul, featuring island singer Chad Matthews, and I've just finished a screenplay about a family of guitarists called Kristian's Cross. I'm also developing one of my books, Like A Song, into a feature film. I love music and will always feature island artists in my films. I'm a novice piano and guitar player so it's your music that lights up my life. Keep making music, and best of luck in your career!
