Rich Knox
Born at the QEH, raised by the shores of the North (York) River, Rich cut his teeth playing in the bars of Charlottetown with the Roger Jones Band before he was even legally allowed to be in bars. Fortunate our boy was, he had the opportunity, thanks to Chris Budhan's City Stages program, to play hundreds of shows with a who's who of the Canadian Jazz scene (David Restivo, Pat LaBarbera, Alex Dean, Gordon Foote, Ian Toms, Chris Budhan, and many more - not to mention 2 years as the drummer of McGill Big Band I - think Whiplash!, it wasn't far off!).
He performed in the orchestra for the Confederation Centre's groovy romp, Disco Cirque, and as a musician/actor for two sold out summer productions of The Buddy Holly Story. He played and/or recorded with many of Atlantic Canada's most prized and praised singer-songwriters before moving to Toronto where he co-founded party-favourite Dwayne Gretzky, and joined Dustin Bentall and Lindi Ortega's bands. In 2013, he joined international power trio, Danko Jones and has been on the road with them ever since.
He returns now to PEI to enjoy the beach, nature, and to continue to develop his new project, a Musician-centric Wellness program incorporating fitness, functional movement patterns, nutrition coaching, breath work and mindfulness meditation into a cocktail that has you waking up the opposite of hungover the next morning.
I hope to meet and get to play with all of you sooner than later.
