Haunted Hearts
Dennis Ellsworth (Singer/guitar)
Mark Geddes (Bass)
Mike MacDougall (drummer)
Johnny Ross (Piano/Organ)

Haunted Hearts is based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. It is a vehicle for the songs of Dennis Ellsworth. The line up includes Mike MacDougall, Blu Gillis, and Johnny Ross. Haunted Hearts began as a side project but soon became much more than that. The shows have been very well attended and praised from the start. After only four months, the Hearts set up to record at Mike MacDougall’s house on Valentine’s Day and proceeded to record, live off the floor, over the following two days with Adam Gallant. The result, Thank You, Goodnight, was released in the summer of 2009.
The sound is a blend of roots, folk, honky-tonk, and country. The writing is dark, and the chemistry, dynamic, and skill of the band is clearly displayed on the record. If you asked Haunted Hearts who they look to for guidance, it would likely be The Band. Not because they sound alike, although the organ and piano playing comes close, but more in their attitude and the way they process the music. Haunted Hearts are delicate with the songs, and aspire to let the music guide them. The members of the band are aware of how easy it is to over think music, and they make every effort to stray from that. Haunted Hearts apply a method that allows things to fall into the right places naturally. They believe that’s how it should be, and so far it’s been very good to them.
Haunted Hearts may be in the beginning stages, but they are off to a great start, with a solid and growing fan base and a debut full length record that has been very well received. The band is constantly writing, and they have plans to record more music in the near future. They have performed a handful of the new songs lately; nevertheless, they are dead set on properly promoting Thank You, Goodnight. Touring is the next step and the dates are in the works.
On your mark, get set, go!
